Himalayan Escape: Vultures at Rohtang, Naggar Village, Dharamshala & Shimla

Himachal Pradesh never fails to heal the soul. This time, the mountains gave us a perfect mix of wildlife, culture, history, and peace — from the majestic Himalayan Griffon Vulture near Rohtang Pass to the charming heritage of Naggar Village, peaceful birdwatching in Dharamshala, and the colonial beauty of Shimla.

Our journey reached its most thrilling moment near Rohtang Pass. While the cold wind was strong, we were lucky to spot a massive Himalayan Griffon Vulture gliding gracefully on the thermal currents. With its enormous wingspan cutting through the sky above the snowy peaks, it was a powerful and humbling sight.

Not far from there lies the beautiful Naggar Village — a hidden gem that stole our hearts. Surrounded by apple orchards and the rushing Beas River, this quaint village feels frozen in time. The old wooden Naggar Castle (now a heritage hotel) and the simple, warm local life gave us a deep sense of calm. Walking through its narrow lanes and breathing the fresh mountain air was truly refreshing.

In Dharamshala, the mornings were spent birdwatching. The forests around offered lovely sightings of Himalayan birds. The spiritual atmosphere and calm vibe made it a perfect place to rest the mind.

Shimla completed our escape with its classic charm — the Mall Road walks, misty ridges, and old-world feel gave us the much-needed break from city life.

This short Himalayan trip reminded us why we keep returning to the mountains — for surprise wildlife encounters, quiet villages like Naggar, and the deep peace they bring to the heart.

Himachal is not just a destination. It is a feeling — wild, serene, and deeply refreshing.
